Degree Programmes

General Information

In general, the academic year consists of two semesters, namely the autumn and the spring semesters. The autumn semester lasts generally from the beginning of September until the end of January. The spring semester lasts from the beginning of February until the end of June. In general, both semesters include a 16 - week period of lectures, seminars, laboratories and a 4 - week examinations period.

A study programme (course content ) is a complex of compulsory and optional study modules, whereas the modules are related among themselves. Individual study plans for students are made and realised according to the study programmes.

The main study planning unit is a study modulus. A study modulus is a teaching subject or its part that is taught during one semester.

Unit of a study volume is a credit. One credit includes 40 hours of the students effective auditorium (lectures, laboratories, practicals and et.) and independent student work. One-year study volume contains 60 credits (30 credits per semester).

Study modulus can be compulsory and optional. Compulsory and optional complexes of study modules of each semester are indicated in study programmes. Also there are instructions and recommendations for the choice. For gaining a degree and qualification, study programmes must always be arranged.
